In this article, we explore the various solutions available to the issue of emails sent from outlook getting stuck on outbox. These steps apply to Outlook versions 2013 onwards.
Solution 1: Try re-sending
Go to the Send/Receive tab and click Send All. You’ll see a dialog box showing the results of the process, and your email might exit the outbox.
Solution 2: Make sure Outlook is online.
In your status bar at the bottom of your Outlook message, you’ll see a status of “Disconnected” or “Trying to Connect” or "working offline" which could explain why your messages aren’t sending. In Outlook, on the Send/Receive tab, choose Work Offline to reconnect.
If your mail is hosted on an on-premise Exchange server, it’s possible that the local server is down–you may want to check with your admin. If you use Office 365, check your internet connection, wait a few minutes to make sure it’s not a momentary Office 365 outage, and try again.
Solution 3: Check your mail settings.

Solution 4. Large attachment(s)
Depending on the speed of your internet service provider, if you’ve attached a large file to your email message, you may see it sitting in the outbox/ taking a while to send, and it may be blocking all subsequent emails from sending. Cancel the sending process then try sending a compressed version of the file or use wetransfer.com to send the file instead.
Solution 5. Restart outlook
On your computer, go to the start key > Search for and open the Task Manager >Under Processes, select outlook > Click end process.
Close the task manager then re-open outlook and allow the send/receive process to complete.
